Dividend investing generates passive income through regular cash distributions. Our dividend screener filters US stocks by yield, payout stability, and defensive beta to find reliable income-generating assets suitable for long-term portfolios and retirement planning.

Stocks are ranked by a composite of: (1) dividend yield (annual payout / share price), (2) payout ratio (dividend / earnings — lower is safer), (3) consecutive years of dividend payments, and (4) beta (lower beta means less volatility). We exclude stocks with unsustainable payout ratios above 80%.

Use this screen to build an income portfolio. Look for yields between 2% and 7%, payout ratios below 60%, and at least 5 years of consecutive dividends. Reinvest dividends to compound returns. Be cautious of ultra-high yields — they often signal a stock in decline with an unsustainable payout.
